My brother called me and asked if I could make him a table/cabinet for his new Large Green Egg. A month prior, I bought some old beams on Craig's List. They came from an old building that was torn down in downtown Grand Rapids.  I figured these old beams might mill up nicely for this project so I accepted the challenge and started seeking out ideas. I found a some nice tables on Pinterest but ended up drawing my own plans.

Here is the process from start to finish:

Plaining the beams flat
Cut 10 ft. long beams to length
5.5 in thick
11.25 in wide
Cutting corner post 3.5 x 3.5 in
corner posts cut at 3.5 x 3.5 in
Corners and connecting frames cut for two tables
jig for routering connecting pockets
do all 4 corners at the same time for consistent size
Cut top and shelf planks. Used table saw with 12 in blade. ripped one side then flipped and ripped the other
Plain down planks to 1 in thick for top and shelf. side panels were planed to 9/16 in
Router table used to cut in groves for side panels, floors, and drawer/door edges
All frame pieces cut and routered
Dry fit frame
dry fit frame and cut panels to fit in groves (slide in from top). Then glue panels with biquits.
Glue frames and panels. Use Craig jig to screw on insides of grill cabinet only.
Fit top planks. Once again laminate with biscuits when done.
Laminating drawer and door fronts to 1/4 Hydrotek ply
stained frame to a darker color. Leaving the panels and top natural
top has been secured on. Made a router jig to cut the grill whole. 21.5 in diameter.
When cutting the circle, I went down 1/4 in for each revolution. Did not cut through. Used saber saw for last cut (1/8 in)
Finish building drawers and installing doors, plus hardware.
Added in 2 cutting boards. Used Teak and Cypress. The second board is a "boat" board used for letting the meat sit prior to cutting and serving. Drip channels and moat routered in.
Cutting board. Figured Teak and Cypress, 1.25 in thick.
Boat board.
